JBA
and iSeries/AS400 Performance Tuning/Optimization
It is common to experience diminishing performance for GEAC/JBA packages on
OS400 versions V5R1 and above. This discernible reduction in both AS400 & JBA
performance is often times unacceptable to clients. Our efficient and highly
successful strategy will involve:
Reviewing
all programs running embedded SQL statements. We have identified
very specific updates to improve performance for both the JBA
suite of packages and home-grown systems.
Review JBA
security setup, specifically user class/user groups which we've
found to have a perceptible effect of performance.
Review usage history of applications
that contribute toward low performance. This will entail an appraisal
at the menu selections and usage of these applications.
Review of night jobs. Reassessment
of allocated memory pool size will be done with specific improvements
performed to ensure the continuous optimal running of both JBA
and AS400.
Review subsystem and batch jobs setups.
IBM's performance monitoring
tool will be useful and will assist in expediting this service
but not a prerequisite.
Subsequent to reviewing the
above, there could be linked issues which will be addressed.
